The Trustees and the school have made the decision to consult on decreasing the Year 6 Pupil Admission Number (PAN) from September 2024 by 30 students, thereby decreasing the size of the year group from 150 to 120. We will not be adjusting the size of any other year group. At this time, there will be no changes to current published sixth form admission numbers.
Reducing the PAN will assist in providing stability to our long-term planning while continuing to provide an appropriate number of places for future pupil numbers living in the surrounding area and attending one of the local primary schools. The current PAN is significantly higher than local demand and reducing the PAN will enable us to meet local demand and reconfigure costs to reflect intake.
The majority of the school revenue funding is based upon actual number of pupils attending a school. The reduced PAN will enable us to reconfigure its spend to match funding levels to ensure financial sustainability. Without a PAN reduction we will run significant and persistent deficits which will risk the financial sustainability of the school.
We have worked carefully with the Local Authority School Admissions Team to ensure all procedures and processes are followed correctly.
